Andrew Betsis ELT presents SmartClass, an innovative project for learning languages: English, German and Spanish. The platform, available for the first time in Greece, allows teachers to create personalized and interactive lessons, quick to evaluate and freely accessible to students, from any place and device.

SmartClass uses artificial intelligence in learning and practicing the language and is useful to give students immediate feedback on the level of language proficiency and progress achieved.
The enormous value of using Artificial Intelligence in the learning of foreign languages is revealed in the case-study carried out among the participating students in a research project carried out in the academic year 2020-21. This case-study was directed by the IUL Telematics University, and coordinated by Letizia Cinganotto, INDIRE researcher and English teacher at the same university. In collaboration with Fausto Benedetti, didactic manager, Dean of the IUL University Faculty, and with Daniela Cuccurullo, English teacher and consultant.
The research project was carried out on a sample of high school and college students who experimented with the SmartClass platform and content for the English language; and taking a test to determine learning styles, and a placement test that allowed them to assign the most appropriate learning path for the students.
The results of the study underline the effectiveness of the program, not only because of its easy application, interaction and engagement, but above all because of the effectiveness of the technological scenarios and the validity of the exercises, particularly those based on voice recognition.
